Direction of use

  • Clean the weld area carefully using a stainless-steel brush.
  • After welding ensure the area to be pickled has sufficient time to cool below 40°C.
  • Roll or shake the drum of Weldcool if possible for 30 seconds prior to opening the container to ensure a smooth consistency, especially if the product has not been used for a long time.
  • Apply the Weldcool to the area to be cleaned, using the brush provided or with an acid resistant spray pump and applicator. DO NOT PICKLE IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT.
  • Application times may vary depending on ambient temperature, the grade of stainless, surface finish or the method of welding. On a hot rolled surface the pickling time may increase by 50%. MIG welds may require longer pickling times than those obtained using covered electrodes. Allow the pickling gel or solution sufficient time to react with the surface. With high ambient temperatures or when longer pickling times are required it may be necessary to repeat the process. Should the product dry on the surface wash down, dry and repeat the process.

Description

Callington Weldcool is a balanced recirculation system and torch coolant. It has been formulated for use with MIG Welding, TIG Welding, Laser Welding, Laser Cutting, Plasma Welding and Robotic Systems. Its thermal stability properties make it an excellent choice for use with high performance torches. When used in conjunction with a regular coolant system maintenance program. Weldcool will eliminate damaging mineral deposits build up and will prevent clogging of the cooling system. This will extend the life of pumps, seals, gaskets and prevent costly downtime. It is suitable for use in warm and cold climate conditions. It contains rust and corrosion inhibitors that will help extend the life of the cooling system components. It is classified as a non-dangerous product.

Application

With all cooling system, the best results are achieved by changing the coolant annually, draining and cleaning pump filters and flushing the tank to remove any sludge or solids build-up. To prevent the risk of damaging any high efficiency radiator type circulator/heat exchanger to mix coolants as this may also invalidate adding "new" coolant into the system. It is not recommended to mix coolants as this may also invalidate the manufacturer's warranty. Adhering to this procedure will keep the system free from the hazards of damaging minerals deposit build-up and the growth of potentially dangerous bacteria.

NOTE

Wear full body protection, breathing apparatus, gloves and goggles; avoid spillage or splashes. Do not allow to come in contact with the body.

If skin contact occurs, apply Calcium Gluconate gel immediately.

Avoid contact with eyes or breathing any vapour.

Replace the lid on the container tightly and store upright in a cool dry area away from direct sunlight. Do not store or use below 5°C.

Weldcool has a recommended shelf life, in good storage conditions, of twelve (12) months.

    Direction of use

    • Surface should be pre-cleaned to remove oils and greases before applying passivating agent. Use Callington S-Weld Brite Wash. Any contamination will shorten the life of the passivating gel.
    • Stir the gel to ensure a smooth consistency and apply S-Weld Passivator using the acid resistant brush provided.
    • Rinse thoroughly with clean potable water, dry surfaces to prevent water staining (smut). If a neutralizing agent has been used this must be followed by rinsing again with clean potable water and surfaces should be dried to prevent water staining.
